Today was just like any other ordinary day,
but at the same time, it wasn’t…
because today marks my last first day of school.
Usually I don’t take public transportation to school, but I decided to take the MARTA today in an attempt to avoid the craziness that comes with students bombarding the very limited parking decks that Georgia State has. As I swayed back and forth to the rhythm of the train, I began to reflect on my collegiate career thus far. These past 4.5 years were filled with so many different experiences – including (by far) some of the sweetest victories of my life and (also by far) the most heart wrenching defeats I’ve ever faced. In all of the madness that is college, the one thing I can confidently say is that my God carried me through it all, and I give Him all of the glory, honor, & praise for that.
It’s a powerful thing when you realize that God already sees you as the person that you’ve always wanted to be because God was the one that placed within you those dreams and desires before you were even conceived! (How crazy awesome is that?!) 🙂 Our job is to simply be faithful and obedient to Him. Because of this, I can walk confidently in the difficult, daily grind of this life with a holy dissatisfaction on my heart that doesn’t make me shy away from the (sometimes grueling) sanctification process and spurs me on to pursue Jesus even more as this life becomes evermore real with each passing second that goes by. My hope and prayer for our time here on Earth is that you and I would fight for blessing like how Jacob wrestled with the angel all night (Genesis 32:22-32). It’s in the daily battles where we develop our spiritual musculature so that we can go on to defeat our giants while bringing God greater glory in our lives! Let us run with endurance and leave behind all of the baggage that weighs us down. May 2017 be a victorious year because of the victory that we have with Christ!
Cheers to the lessons learned from the past, the ability to choose Jesus today in the present, & the hope and confidence that we have in Christ as we move forward into the future!
Good luck this semester, y’all! Be encouraged.
Hebrews 12:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV)
Jesus, Founder and Perfecter of Our Faith
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
